Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Memorial is a massive exhibition centre in Kuala Lumpur that commemorates the life and achievements of Malaysia’s first Prime Minister. Situated along Jalan Dato' Onn, the memorial is surrounded by a picturesque garden landscape with his official residence and two further blocks of buildings housing an extensive collection of his personal belongings and documents.
Tunku Abdul Rahman, also known as Bapa Malaysia or Bapa Merdeka (Father of Independence), was Chief Minister of the Federation of Malaya from 1955 and the country's first Prime Minister from 1957 to 1970. Fondly referred to as Tunku by locals, he was also instrumental in bringing independence to Malaysia which was under British rule during the early 20th century.
